Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is looking at areas where his teams defending can be improved.
City's defence has been a concern all season and Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole: “We have been having some heavy discussions on that recently because the stats show that we concede the majority of goals in the last 15 minutes.
“We don’t concede many when we’re fresh, but there’s no doubt that when you play with the levels of intensity that we do fatigue plays a part in the latter stages of the game.
“It’s very difficult to keep pressing the way we do for 90 minutes, however fit you are, so our game management has got to be better. That means a greater focus from the players but also tactical things that I have to introduce into the team.
“You can always look at elements in which you can improve on what you did, and it might be that we need to change our style in the latter stages to see games through.
“We’re looking at a lot of interesting things just now to see if we can come up with the answer – find the balance between being a bit more containing while still having the threat.
“Sometimes you can bring extra pressure on ourself if you just throw on an extra defender.
“I’ve tweaked the system on occasions, but not too often because we’re comfortable with our system and we’re at our best when we’re pressing.
“It’s obviously different if you’re winning 3-0 but if you are trying to see out a 1-0 away result you perhaps have to play a slightly different way.
“As I keep saying, this is a young team that is evolving all the time. We had a bit of a blip but in recent games we’ve found the balance between possession and counter-attacking that we had at the start of the season.
“But then something else happens and you to find another answer, a tweak to the system that can perhaps bring greater stability.”
