Pressley In Keeper Search

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is looking for another goalkeeper.

The City boss, who has lost Joe Murphy to Huddersfield and surprised a few by releasing talented Coventry born youngster Alex Gott, will give Lee Burge his chance in goal but is looking for another keeper.

Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “We’re looking at bringing in a second keeper to push Lee.

“We have known for the last week to ten days that it was likely that Joe would leave us and the truth is we’re obviously disappointed. But we have great faith in Lee and I want to bring someone in who is going to challenge for the No.1 position, and I want it to be a real fight for the jersey.

“I don’t want anyone coming in with any ideas that they will fill the No.1 spot because that will not be the case.

“I want to give Lee every opportunity to be able to take the No.1 jersey because he’s a goalkeeper we have real faith in. So it’s about finding the right goalkeeper to challenge for that place.

“And that’s important in our recruitment that the one we bring in does have game-time behind him.”
