Pressley Has Player Backing - Webster

Coventry City defender Andy Webster has said that under-fire Steven Pressley has the backing of the players.

Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “Of course. We’re letting him down, we’re letting ourselves, the fans and the club down which, for us, is unacceptable.

“The boys don’t go out on the pitch and not try. We just need to be braver and show a lot of character to get ourselves out of the situation we’re in. We need to rectify that and there’s only one way to do that and that’s by sheer hard work.

“That’s what we’ll do between now and Saturday when we will try hard in a manner that’s going to win us a football match.

“To say it’s a disappointing spell is an understatement.

“We’re just not doing the fundamentals right at the minute – basic defending and conceding sloppy goals. And you’re never going to give yourself the chance to win football matches if you do that.

“I think confidence plays a big factor in football. When things are going well lots of things seem to go your way with balls falling to you and if it’s defending you always seem to be in the right place at the right time.

“But when things aren’t going so well you always seem to be not in the right place at the right time, and we’re not doing well at the moment.”
