Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has explained his comments that the Sky Blues' chances of making the play-offs are over following the 3-0 defeat at Notts County.

When asked by the Coventry Telegraph on behalf of a City supporter : "Why did you feel the need to say our play-off chances are over? Could this have an adverse effect on the players?", the City boss replied: "No, because nothing has changed with regards the standards that I expect on the training ground and the players know that. They know what I demand and expect from them but I just want to send out a message that I believe is realistic.

“Considering what we’ve gone through and where we are now, I genuinely think this season that the play-offs might be beyond us – although that’s not to say they aren’t achievable.”
