Pressley - Our Play Might Have To Be Tweaked

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said the team's style of play might have to be tweaked due to the poor pitches both at Sixfields and elsewhere.

Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner:

“I will never compromise our style of play but I will have to tweak certain aspects to get results, so there might be elements of our play that we might have to alter because of the state of the pitches at this moment of time,” he said, all too aware of the soft and bobbly surface at Northampton which is far from conducive to City’s preferred passing game.

“That’s not me talking about a direct style of play, far from it, but a little less open that we are used to playing. It can be difficult to get the ball under control but that’s why when you play in a certain way when we push full-backs on at times that you have to trust the player in possession of the ball.

“So that’s something we have to consider, how quickly we promote our full-backs forward. We want to promote them forward but we have to do that at the right times. When the pitches are great you can trust them a little bit more, so that’s a consideration for us and something we have talked about of late.”
