Preservation Sky Blues (PSB) would like to warmly welcome Tony Mowbray to Coventry City Football Club as our new manager.
I'm sure Mr Mowbray will agree that he is joining a great club with a proud history. A club that shouldn't be struggling at the wrong end of English football's third tier.
We hope todays appointment heralds a new era for the Sky Blues and a long awaited demonstration of commitment and ambition from the club owners.
SISU must surely now realise that if CCFC is ever to start moving forward again that it needs to invest in the only thing that really matters..the team.
We believe that Tony Mowbray is a fantastic appointment and we applaud Steve Waggott for bringing him to our club. However whatever personal qualities Mowbray brings there is no doubt that he needs to be backed financially.
We hope and believe that with our new managers at the helm we should now have enough "in our locker" to escape relegation and that has to be our primary aim.
That being the case we would then look upon next season as an opportunity to have a realistic attempt at getting promoted to the Championship.
That has to be our aim, we feel sure it will be Tony Mowbrays target.
We therefore urge SISU to do the right thing now to give our new manager a fighting chance of achieving this. Unfortunately however we have seen no evidence that they have the ambition to make this happen.
We therefore believe that now is the time for our owners to invest in the playing squad and to demonstrate their ambition and finally start moving the club forward. If this is the case of another new manager being appointed but with no real backing from the clubs owners then we would urge SISU to then do the right thing. To put the club up for sale to "test the water" to see if there are any potential new owners out there who have the neccessary commitment and interest in Coventry both as a football club and community to be able to take the club forward.
In the meantime we offer our full support and encouragent to Tony Mowbray and wish him every success in his quest. Initially to spare OUR club the embarrassment of relegation to League 2 and thereafter to finally take the Sky Blues out of the doldrums and bring a smile to all Coventry City fans.
