Coventry City will be the first Senior team to open Shrewsbury Town's Otteley Road home (a strange quirke of fate saw Shrewsbury open proceedings at Highfield Road on September 9 1899) but they wont be the first game at the Shropshire side's new home. To open the ground and for the necessary safety checks to take place,Shrewsbury will play an All Star Team,managed by former City boss Ron Atkinson and featuring Gian Franco Zola on July 14th.

The game at Glentoran on Tuesday July 24th will be a testimonial for Colin Nixon. Nixon has made 536 appearances for the Glens,scoring on 46 occasions and is close to breaking the club appearance of 555 set by Billy McCullough.

Glentoran who face Swedish side AIK Stockolm in the UEFA Cup either side of the City and Espanyol games have decided that there will be an "Honour Gate" on the day to enable Glentoran Season Ticket holders to make a voluntary contribution towards Colins benefit if they so desire.

Nuneaton Borough have signed Jamie Towers from Leamington. The talented winger formerly with Coventry Sphinx has been given a one year and is expected to play against the Sky Blues.

JT's last game for The Brakes was also against the Sky Blues where he marked Liam Davis.
