Pope Not Surprised City Are Bottom

Tom Pope has said that he is not surprised that Coventry City are bottom of League One.

Pope, who played for Bury against City, said to Mike Baggaley of The Stoke Sentinel, said:"Coventry are a big club so I suppose people will be surprised to see them at the bottom of the table. I have to say I'm not though having played against them for Bury in August. We got a goalless draw at their place and I don't remember them having a shot.

They had a lot of young players in their side who are going to need time and patience. The problem is that Coventry fans quite rightly expect a club of their size to be doing a lot better than being bottom of League One.

So, that can be tough for the players but it seems to me the dissatisfaction is with the club's owners rather than the team.

I am sure Tony Mowbray would have liked to have brought in more senior players. You have to feel that if a capable, experienced manager like him can't get them going then it is going to be difficult for whoever takes over."
