Coventry were defeated by a Scunthorpe side aided severly by the ref.

Coventry fielded an unchanged side as they faced a Scunthorpe side who won away at Walsall in midweek.

Scunthorpe started brightly with Hawley' s shot was saved by Murphy and Coventry also had a chance when Baker hit the post from outside the box.

Coventry began to gain a footing in the game and were ahead thanks to a BAKER free kick.

However the game changed in Scunthorpe's favour when Wood was judged to have bought down Leon Clarke in the box. The decision was a joke but CLARKE didnt care and he equalised from the spot.

Coventry started the second half woefully and could have behind if Clarke could have put his free header home.

McGoldrick had a shot saved before Christie hit one over several minutes later.

In the 75th minute, Scunthorpe gained the lead when Murphy was far too easily beaten by Clarke again.

Coventry pressed and Christie had a penalty claim turned wrongly down leading to more home fans shouting abuse at the referee.

Late on, Mildenhall saved Scunthorpe with a good double save and the scattering of Scunthorpe fans exited in delirium while Coventry regretted a poor result.
