Police Statement On City Supporter Who Did Not Make It Home From The City V Shrewsbury Game

West Midlands Police have issued the following statement following the death of Coventry City supporter and Leamington Hibernian U8's player Rowan Fitzgerald , who did not make it home safely from the Sky Blues 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.

"The family of a seven-year-old boy who was killed in the recent Coventry bus tragedy have paid tribute to their football loving son and spoken of their loss.

Rowan Fitzgerald from Leamington died when the double-decker bus crashed into a supermarket on Trinity Street on Saturday 3 October.

His family said: “Rowan was an adorable caring person who gave so much love to anyone he met; he was a handsome little boy, whose cheeky smile lit up any room. He made life full of laughter with never a dull moment and always kept us going with his cheeky little ways.

“He loved his sports, especially football. He was returning from the Ricoh Arena when this tragedy happened. We love and miss him so much and as a family would appreciate any information that can be given to the police investigation to help us understand why our little boy was taken from us.

“We wish for the media to leave us alone while we grieve the loss of our beautiful little boy and try and come to terms with what has happened."

Officers continue to investigate the crash and have re-appealed for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who saw what happened as has yet to speak to police should call 101 quoting log 1017 4/10/15."
