There has been plenty of interest in the vacant manager's job according to Coventry City Chairman Ray Ranson.

Speaking to Sky Sports.com, Mr Ranson who was responsible for the appointment of Aidy Boothroyd back in May, said: "As you can imagine my phone has been ringing this morning with hundreds of applicants, but we've got a big game and a big week ahead of us away to Burnley and to Preston so we'll take stock at the end of the week I think.

"As I've always said in this job, it's 'damned if I do, damned if I don't' and the board made a decision and we have to live or die by that.

"He (Boothroyd) is an intelligent guy, and good company, and I wish him well and I'm sure he'll bounce back."
