Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray has told the Coventry Telegraph that he expects his players to return to the Ryton training ground in fighting fit condition.

The squad is looking a bit small, just 14 senior players, at the moment but will include Danny Swanson who has returned from his loan spell at St. Johnstone.

Mowbray said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, “I am anticipating all the players will come back in very good shape,” said Mowbray, whose squad will be supplemented by a number of development squad players during the pre-season programme when his summer recruitment drive is expected to get up and running with a number of new signings.

“All the players had programmes at the end of the season and there is an expectation that they go away with their heart rate monitors so we can read them to make sure they have been doing their work. And I’m sure they’ll come back in good condition so we can start work very quickly.

“There will be a short period of fitness work and then after that we’ll be working on team shape, organisation and expectation and demands you put on players.”
