Pennington Happy At Centre Half

Coventry City loanee Matt Pennington has said that he is happy playing as a central defender.

The loanee from Everton moved into the centre of defence for the Walsall game and with Andy Webster and Reda Johnson injured and with Arron Martin back at Yeovil Town after his loan expired, Pennington may have to spend more time in a central defensive role.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Pennington, who has put in some excellent performances since coming to Coventry, said: : “I’ve always felt more at home at centre-back. I have waited for my chance to play there and it’s taken the unfortunate illness and injury to Webby and Aaron for it to come.

“But hopefully I took my chance and will now get a few more chances there. I’ll do a job at right-back but centre-back is where I’ve played since I was a kid and I’d love to play a few more there while I’m here.”
