West Midlands Police officer PC Dave Mapp is looking forward to working once again with Coventry City supporters.

With the Sky Blues returning to the Ricoh, West Midlands Police are back looking after City supporters home and away and PC Mapp has been brought back from his exile at Walsall.

Mapp said in an interview with the West Midlands Police website: "After spending so much time with the club, supporter groups and fans on match days I really started to feel part of the Coventry family, and many welcomed me despite my Brummie accent!.

"There was certainly a lot of banter, especially at away games. And it was the away games that I missed the most. I’m certainly looking forward to catching up with a few familiar faces, and I hope the feeling is mutual.

"The passion of the supporters was contagious. The fact that 18,000 tickets have already been sold for Friday’s game says it all. And after a defeat I can always remember a subdued journey home, especially from those long journeys during the winter months.

"Friday is somewhat of a new beginning for the club and a chance for the fans to unite and roar on Steven Pressley’s men to victory. Sadly while myself and the fans can’t control the outcome on the pitch but we can all affect what goes on in the stands.

"I’m sure they won’t need any encouragement but I’d ask the fans to be loud and proud, to enjoy the game and the rest of the season, but to do so legally and considerately to fellow supporters."
