Page On The Comeback Trail

Popular City defender Robert Page has returned to training wearing a specially made face mask. Despite Micky Adams ordering his players to tread easy in tackles with Page, the Welsh international is looking to get the first one out of the way as a confidence boost.

Page told the CET: "Obviously the test will be when I get another knock on it. "In a funny way I suppose I want that first knock to get it out of the way. As people probably know I don't like to hold back in a challenge, and I have always been like that. It is something that has helped me in my career and that is just the way I am.

"So I just need to get the confidence that I can go up for headers again knowing that I will be all right if I get another whack on it. "The cheekbone feels practically normal and I can't feel any lumps, bumps or dents, so the surgeon has done a good job. He said he just popped the bone back out and everything was fine. "It is just a case of cracking on now and the good thing is that I can keep my fitness up because it is not like a leg injury that stops you from moving.
"I have had a mask made up and I am training with that, so I have got to make sure I am careful and don't get any knocks in the first couple of days, and build myself up slowly.
"So hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will be back in contention. I just need to get used to the mask and get a bit of confidence. But that will come with time. I have spoken to people like Richard Shawsy who has had it done twice and Andy Morrell and got reassurance that everything will be OK."
