Former Coventry City defender Robert Page will take charge of the Port Vale side for the next few matches.

Vale boss and former Sky Blue Micky Adams had a hip replacement operation on Monday and Vale have appointed Page, the Wales U21 manager to take charge of the matches in Adams absence.

Page is on his way to his pro licence and was in the running for two manager's jobs in the close season including the job at one of his former club's Sheffield United and has been tipped by Vale coach Mark Grew to go on to be a good manager.
