Our Man In Cape Town Reports In

Last updated : 17 June 2010 By Mike Monk

Last night went to a winery just up the road for a typical South African meal - a potjiekos (pronounced poy-key-koss) which is effectively a broth - a warming glass of merlot, listen to a blues band and watch the SA v Uruguay match on a big screen.

You can see a pic of a vuvuzela competition - the blond lady was the best but the guy in the red jacket had more mates in the audience and thus got greater applause…

Whilst Chris Coleman is working for ITV, ex-England/Southampton/Sky Blues man Terry Paine lives out here and works for a television channel, as does ex-England/Man Utd keeper Gary Bailey.

For the World Cup, John Barnes and Gary ("left knee") Mabbutt are guest pundits.

Good night out, except that SA lost in rather poor fashion…

Cheers for now,

Mike
