Coventry City top the Championship on alphabetical order from Crystal Palace who won 4-1 at Southampton.

Former Sky Blue James Scowcroft scored at hat-trick for Palace, whilst Youseff Safri set up Saganowski's goal for the Saints. Ipswich Town are third after Alan Lee scored the fastest goal in the division in a 4-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Other results saw Blackpool win 1-0 at Leicester,Plymouth win at Hull,Burnley beat West Brom,Watford won at Wolves and Stoke won at Cardiff. The games at Bristol City,Charlton,Preston and Sheffield United ended in draws.

Matt Heath scored for Leeds in a 2-1 win which leaves the Elland Road club now twelve points adrift, Darren Currie scored on his debut for Luton. Stuart Giddings played for Oldham in a 2-1 win against Swansea. Craig Reid was a late sub for Cheltenham whilst Richard Shaw played in Millwall's 0-0 draw at Doncaster. Andy Whing had a good game for Brighton in their 2-1 defeat at Crewe. David Pipe played 68 minutes for Birstol Rovers in a 1-1 draw at Port Vale.
Julian Joachim scored for Darlington in a 2-0 win at Wrexham whilst Terry Butcher's Brentford drew 1-1 as did Macclesfield managed by Ian Brightwell.

Jonny Tuffey played in goal for Partick Thistle in a 3-0 win against Livingston.
