Open Options For Barnett

Latest Coventry City loanee Leon Barnett is keeping his options open with regard to any move.

City could make his loan permanent in January although there is interest from elsewhere.

Barnett said that he had spoken to David Bell, whom he knew from his days at Luton Town before coming to the Sky Blues.

He told the CT:
“I just wanted to get my chance. "I felt like I could play and I wanted to play but I have just not been given a chance.

"Fair enough the team have been doing well but when Coventry showed an interest I was happy to come along and help the boys.

“It has been a real help for me having David Bell here. "We played together at Luton, where he was a real character and he has kind of taken me under his wing here, which is nice, and it is good to know someone at the club you are going to join.

“I made sure I spoke to him before I came and he said there is a good bunch of boys here and that the manager is good and I am just happy to be here.

“I had a knee injury last year, just a meniscus operation, which was successful and I played a few more games afterwards but everything is fine.

"The only thing I need is more time on the pitch. "I have been playing in a few reserve games and I just need the sharpness really.

"I am still learning the game and I want to play as many games as I can and just take it from there.”

And as for City wanting to make his move permanent, he said: “It is pleasing to hear but we will just have to see what happens and you never know what could happen between now and January.

“I am trying to keep my options open, get as many games as I can and try to help the boys here push up the table.”
