On The Game

Speaking after the defeat by Bristol City;
Tracy from Northampton said: "It's disappointing to lose our home record. "We were obviously disrupted by injuries to key players such as Isaac Osbourne. "I think we will rue some of our missed chances in the first half and the soft goals conceded. "I was encouraged by the solid performances of Stephen Hughes and Marcus Hall."

Steve from Northampton (in no way related to Tracy) said: "Bristol came here to keep it tight and rely on taking advantage of our defensive errors, hence the ball over the defence tactic. "It was a big test and although we played some good football,we did not show the urgency and tempo required."

Iain Dowie said to the club website:
"It was a very disappointing result, but apart from the last 20 minutes I thought we played quite well. "We dominated the game for large periods but didn't take our chances. The first goal was probably their only shot on target in the first-half and they didn't create much in the second until we conceded another soft goal.
"Judging by the height in our team we shouldn't concede from set-pieces and I didn't see who the ball hit last but I'll have a look at it and have a chat about what we could have done better. "Soft goals are killing us at the moment but I couldn't fault the players' work ethic today. We pressed the game and tried to win it and there was no way we should have come in at half-time a goal down.
He added: "We have to move on from today now - the games are coming thick and fast and we must turn our attentions to keeping our unbeaten away record intact at Crystal Palace on Tuesday night."
