Oldham Athletic are reporting tonight that they are trying to sort out a permanent deal for former Coventry City forward Robbie Simpson.

Simpson has been on loan at Oldham and then allowed to stay there to train by Huddersfield Town, whom he joined from the Sky Blues in June 2009.

Speaking to the Huddersfield Examiner, Robbie Simpson said:  "It is an initial loan, but in a few days all the bits and bobs ought to be sorted out.

"Obviously Huddersfield were wanting to pay as little as possible towards my wages and Oldham were doing everything they could to sort things out.

"I have had to take a hit (financially) but there is no price to be happy."

Simpson added he enjoyed his initial three-month loan over the Pennines and wanted to continue his stay.

He said: "Over the last couple of years I have had a lot of injury problems and lost some of my enjoyment.

"Being here (at Oldham) was vital for me and I'm just glad there has been a bit of movement from everybody and I'm sure the move will be completed by Friday."
