Julian Joachim has signed for Darlington. The striker whose career at Highfield Road was blighted by injury was at his home town club Boston United for a season after joining from Leeds United.

Former Coventry City trainee Phil Jagielka is concering some Sheffield United supporters that the midfielder may go elsewhere after a delay in current contract talks. West Ham and Wigan Athletic are believed to be monitoring the situation.

The Football Association of Ireland have issued a statement confirming that the Gardai were called after an incident outside the Republic of Ireland international squad's hotel base in Portmarnock on Monday evening.

Ireland's team manager, Stephen Staunton, was on the 'phone when he was confronted in a threatening manner by a stranger outside the hotel. The Gardai were immediately called and took statements from those involved.
There are media reports that the man was brandishing a gun. A 31 year old male was later arrested.

Ireland face Holland at Lansdowne Road on Wednesday.

Willie Boland has gone to Grimsby Town for a trial. The midfielder was released by Cardiff City at the end of last season and has also trialled at Swansea City.
