Coventry City Academy Director Steve Ogrizovic, has praised the support given to keep City's Academy going.

Speaking to the CET, the City legend said: "The situation is a lot better than it was this time last year when the club launched the Save Our Academy appeal. "That came about because the Arena was late in opening and there were cashflow problems and fortunately we had a very successful appeal that helped tide us over.

"We had a great deal of help from the Sky Blue Trust, members of the public and our academy so I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who got behind the scheme and supported it.

"We raised about £50,000 and that went a long way to helping us through a difficult patch."

The appeal is on going and the Sky Blue Trust are keeping open their bank account for any donations and/or fundraisers.

With the new FA rules this season meaning that all players must be under eighteen years of age, City have had to field a number of year one scholars and have lost their last two matches at home to Crystal Palace and away at Millwall last Saturday.

Brian Borrows' side face Birmingham City at The Alan Higgs Centre on Saturday morning and Bugsy feels that that luck has not been on their side.

He told the club website: "I think the lads are maybe a little bit low on confidence, but we've been telling them that with a bit more luck we could have at least drawn our last two games. "But there are plenty of positives to be taken from the recent performances and the boys have shown that they have the desire and commitment when the chips are down."
