Oggy: Charles-Cook To Be First Choice Keeper Again

Coventry City goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic has told Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph that he expects Reice Charles-Cook to be the number one keeper.

Ogrizovic said:  “I would have thought so and Lee is aware of that and he has to be on his toes and make sure Reice keeps to the standards he set last season.

“The hardest thing for any player is that second season.

“Lee started the season last year and got injured and people don’t realise he was training with an injury and could really have had his op in October, November time. But we needed him and then we timed the surgery to ensure he’d be fit for the start of the season. So he was a bit unfortunate.

“Lee coped really well in the battle against relegation the year before when he was under pressure in those last 25/30 games because if the young goalkeeper messes up we would have been relegated.

So they have both proved they have good heads on their shoulders and can put mistakes behind them and not dwell on bad press or what people say about them if they have a bad game.

“It’s hard for goalkeepers compared to outfield players who can run around and work hard while if a goalie makes a mistake it can play on his mind while he’s standing there and he’s almost fighting his demons.”
