Off We Go Again

It's off we go as the Football League season starts tomorrow at 3pm. City will be looking for an improvement on last season's placing of 17th in what again looks to be a tough division and will be looking to set out their stall with a return from the trip to Barnsley.

Elsewhere in the division, relegated Charlton are at home to Scunthorpe,Sheffield United are at home to Colchester and Watford travel to Wolves for a game which is live on Sky at 5.20pm.

New boys Bristol City have a home start against QPR whilst Blackpool travel to Leicester.

Other games see Burnley v West Brom,Cardiff V Stoke, Hull v Plymouth, Ipswich v Sheff Wed, Preston v Norwich and Southampton v Palace.

Locally,Nuneaton Borough get to christen Liberty Way with a home Conference North game against Harrogate Town.

The Southern League does not start for another week,so all eyes will be on Coventry Sphinx who make their maiden appearance in the Midland Football Alliance when they travel to Market Drayton Town.

Paul Charnley has brought in a number of players including former Sky Blues Tom Cudworth and Carl Nolan and told Covsupport that he was really looking forward to the season.

Other games in the Midland Alliance see Atherstone Town at home to Causeway, Racing Club Warwick at home to Biddulph Victoria with Stratford Town who are playing their home matches at Solihull Moors Ground travellng to Barwell.

All the Coventry and Warwickshire sides in the Midland Combination Premier Division are away from home. Coventry Copsewood are at Meir,Massey Ferguson are at Feckenham, Nuneaton Griff travel to Heath Hayes and Southam United travel to Loughborough University.
