O'Brien - Everyone Was Playing With Smiles On Their Faces.

Jim O'Brien has said that the Coventry City players had a smile on their faces playing at Millwall yesterday.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, O'Brien said: “I’ve not been in that situation for a while.

“It’s not a familiar feeling but it’s a good feeling being 3-0 up so early. I was trying to play a ball to Adam Armstrong with the outside of my foot and it rolled out of the pitch and instead of getting frustrated with myself I just looked at him and started laughing because we were enjoying it so much – we really didn’t want to come in at half-time.

“The manager said he wasn’t going to tell us how good we were because that can have a negative effect.

“We knew that we needed to start quickly and kept the tempo up and kept turning them and doing what we did in the first half. That can be quite hard but we did it quite well.

“We knew Millwall would come out a different side in the second half, they made a couple of substitutions but I felt that we dealt with it brilliantly.

“Sam and Reda were heading everything all day and Romain was picking up every second ball and it frustrated them a little bit and they were giving away silly free kicks so that took a bit of sting out of the game as well. “

“Everyone was excellent and I think it would be difficult to pick a man of the match, although I’d probably just edge it,” joked O’Brien.

“Everyone was playing with smiles on their faces so it is a good feeling but we won’t get to enjoy it because we’ll be right back into it on Tuesday night.”
