Nuneaton Bring Back Donovan Simmonds

Nuneaton Town are to bring back former Coventry City reserve teamer Donovan Simmonds.

Simmonds, who spent most of his time of a two year spell playing for Coventry City Reserves who were then based at Nuneaton, was at Nuneaton in 2010, making ten appearances and scoring four goal.

Since then, he has been at Dover Athletic and a night club promoter but has given that up in order to renew his football career at Nuneaton.

Speaking to the CT, Nuneaton boss Kevin Wilkin said: “Donovan came in about ten days ago and although I know what he is about I wanted to take my time to have a look at him in terms of his fitness.

“He’s had a couple of training sessions with us now to get a feel for where he is at and he’s very eager to get on the pitch and start staking his claim for a starting berth.

“Donovan has always looked after himself because he’s a fit young man but he’s had to be a little bit patient to get an opportunity in the side and I am not sure when that will come.

“But he’s proved he’s capable of getting goals and his first day went pretty well when he scored a couple, and hopefully he’s progressed and learned as a player since he was here last and can add something to what we are.

“We had a session on Tuesday and another one tonight when we will go through our homework on Macclesfield and decide whether he’s right for it. “But it’s nice to have a selection headache like this rather than have your hand forced.”
