Not All Doom And Gloom - Nicholls

Last updated : 29 September 2014 By Matty Roper

Coventry City Ladies Manager, Craig Nicholls, felt that although his side's winning run had come to an end with a 2-2 draw against Preston North End at the Ricoh Arena, it was not all doom and gloom.

Speaking to Matty Roper, Nicholls said: “We enjoyed a superb start and during the opening twenty minutes I thought we were excellent. After scoring we seemed to drop off and allow Preston back in to the game which was disappointing. I think our decision making today wasn’t quite up to scratch today but we go again on Thursday.”

“We have had a tough week in terms of fitness, with a sickness bug affecting the squad as well as injuries. Taking this in to account and it’s not all doom and gloom, we have gained another point in a competitive league and remain unbeaten since the opening day, there are plenty of positives to take.”

Annabel Johnson agreed with Nicholls’ comments and also said: “The first twenty minutes was impressive and our fast, short passing game was superb, but we allowed Preston too much time on the ball after scoring and we started to go long which is unlike us. We did fight to get back in to the game but perhaps we weren’t clinical enough in the final third.”
