Former Coventry City loanee Oliver Norwood was Northern Ireland U21's best chance of a goal but his country went down to a 1-0 defeat to Macedonia this afternoon.

Norwood, now returned to Manchester United after his stint with the Sky Blues, had chances either side of the break but Stephen Robinson's side conceded two penalties with Yani Urdinov scoring the second in the 83rd minute after Ilija Nestorovski had sent the first over the bar in the 53rd minute.

Two minutes from time, Northern Ireland were down to ten men when Newcastle's Shane Ferguson was sent off.

Norwood tweeted about the defeat: "Disappointing result considering how many chances we had, should of got something out of that, good solid team performance, home time 2moz!!"
