According to The People today, former Coventry City midfielder Tim Sherwood is a leading contender to replace Paul Lambert who has left Norwich City to become the new manager at Aston Villa.

The 43 year old, who has played for Norwich City, was brought to City by Peter Reid with concerns over his fitness and immediately appointed captain in 2004.

Injuries meant that he only made eleven appearances before his contract was cancelled in 2005.

Sherwood has been working at Tottenham alongside Harry Redknapp for the last four years.
