Coventry City will be without the services of Robbie Simpson until the New Year. The striker signed for £40,000 from Cambridge United in the summer, ruptured a hamstring during the win at Stoke last Saturday.

Said Iain Dowie to the club website: "Robbie went for a scan and it's a very serious rupture of his hamstring,

"It's testimony to the lad that he pulled it and still tried to force himself to get the shot away and that probably did more damage. "It's a real disappointment because I felt he was in good form and he has a big impact at the club since he joined in the summer.

"So this will be a test for him but hopefully he will come back better and we look forward to seeing him in and around the team again after Christmas."
