No Rift With Ranson - Coleman

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has pointed out that there are no problems between himself and City Chairman Ray Ranson.

"The Chairman and I have got a really good relationship," said Coleman to the CT. "We don't always see eye to eye and we don't walk round patting each other on the back but we both know exactly where we want to be with the club.

"The Chairman always said that when he leaves, the club will be in better shape than when he arrived and he hasn't lied about that - it's in the best shape it's been for a long time.

"It's frustrating for me that some of the money we've bought in has to be re-invested in other areas but I understand that.

"We've had a recession in this country and Coventry City has been hit as much as everybody else. The plans we had eighteen months ago have had to be changed and we can't invest as much in the squad as I wanted to.

"I've never been a cheque book manager. I don't believe in spending loads of money, giving players big contracts and then leaving a trail of carnage.

"I was at Fulham for four or five years and if you balance transfers in against transfers out I never spent any money. "I'm proud of that, because I have always believed in building properly and keeping the club in a stable financial position."
