John Gregory has said that he will not be returning to manage Crawley Town next season.

Gregory had been in charge of Crawley since 2013 but was forced to step aside when he had to go into hospital for heart surgery.

Dean Saunders replaced him but was unable to keep Crawley in League One, losing 2-1 to Coventry City in their final game of the season.

Now. Crawley have said that Gregory will not be returning to his old job and have issued the following statement: "Crawley Town can today confirm that they have reached an agreement with John Gregory whereby he will leave his position as first team manager with immediate effect.

"John was appointed in December 2013 but unfortunately had to relinquish the role in December 2014 to undergo major heart surgery.

"Thankfully, John is now on the road to a full recovery and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their sincere thanks to John for his efforts during his time in charge and his continued support of the club during his recent illness. He will always be a welcome visitor to the Checkatrade."
