On the final day of the summer transfer window, Coventry City are keeping quiet over the future of their striker Lukas Jutkiewicz, who has been the subject of a £1m offer from Middlesbrough as well as interesting Birmingham City and Southampton.

Jutkiewicz, who is the only City player to have scored so far this season, was said to have been touted to other clubs by the Coventry board as they try to raise cash and reduce costs.

Any sale involving Middlesbrough all depends on whether they can sell their captain Mathew Bates for £2m to Swansea before the window closes tonight.

Although Coventry City chairman Ken Dulieu would not comment on the Jutkiewicz situation, he did say yesterday that the club were trying to bring in more than one new player in addition to attempting to bring in loan players from the Premier League when the loan window opens later in September.

Dulieu said, “The board is working hard to try to bring new players into the squad before the transfer window ends against sensible budgetary targets."

"Hopefully we will be able to add some new players by Wednesday, while also taking advantage of loans from Premier League clubs later in September to significantly bolster the manager’s options.”
