According to the BBC, the Home Office has rejected an application for pubs to stay open for certain World Cup 2014 matches.
The British Beer and Pub Association had put in an application on behalf of all pubs to allow them to to stay open from 11pm to 1am on the Friday and Saturday of the opening weekend of the tournament as well as for an extra two hours on the closing weekend of July 11th and 12th.
However, the Home Office have rejected this and said in a letter to the BBPA: "'we don't consider this of national importance".
