Coventry City will not be making the trip to Hartlepool United next season.

Hartlepool needed to beat Doncaster Rovers at home and hope that Newport County were beaten in their final game of the season at home to Notts County.

Doncaster led but Hartlepool equalised with twenty minutes left as Newport were drawing 1-1.

Cov kid and former Sky Blue Gary McSheffrey came on but Rodney scored a second for Pools in the 82nd minute.

However, Newport were able to find a second goal with Cov kid David Pipe setting up Mark O'Brien for a header which means that Hartlepool United drop out of the Football League for the first time in 96 years.

Doncaster finished third in the League 2 table after Portsmouth won the league with a 6-1 win over Cheltenham.

Plymouth finish second after a 1-1 draw at Russell Slade's Grimsby Town.

In the play-offs are Luton Town who beat Morecambe 3-1, Exeter City who lost 3-2 at home to Carlisle who are also in the play-offs with Blackpool who beat already relegated Leyton Orient 3-1.
