No Extra Time Tonight

Last updated : 14 August 2018 By CNS Sport

RULE CHANGES

If Coventry City's Carabao Cup (League Cup) First Round tie away to Oxford United tonight is level after ninety plus minutes then it will be straight to penalties,

Clubs voted at the AGM in June to scrap extra time in the competition and if it's level at the end of normal time, then penalties it will be.

The penalties will be back to the old format of team a goes first, then team b then team a again and then team b and so on.

There are no seeding in the opening two rounds of the competition so Coventry City or Oxford United could get a team from any division from the Southern section in Round Two.

New for this season is that bookings are competition specific, so if a player is booked in a Carabao Cup tie, it won't be added to the amount of cautions he might get in league matches.
