The news released this morning that Joe Elliott has been forced to step down from his post as Coventry City's Life President has been hailed as a "sad day" by Arena Coventry Limited's Daniel Gidney.

The CEO of Arena Coventry Limited said to the CT: "I think this is a sad day because Joe Elliott adds a great deal to the community and the club. If you cut Joe in half he would bleed Sky Blue.

"People can talk about what side Joe might be on but the side he is on is Coventry City Football Club and I am not sure the club gain anything by asking him to stand aside.

"For me everything in life is about rationale and logic and what benefit I get from going down a particular route and I think in the cold, dispassionate rationale light of day, if you ask how does the club benefit from asking Joe to stand aside, I am not sure many fans or third party people would be able to see a clear benefit."
