Director of Facilities at the Ricoh Arena Antony Mundy has warned those attending Olympic Football Matches at the City Of Coventry Stadium not to bring bags or umbrellas.

Munday speaking about the poor weather that is forecast for the rest of July and some of August, said to the CT: “It becomes a security issue for us if there are umbrellas but this is no different to our football matches and concerts.

“As you can imagine, if the weather’s nicer, people are less likely to bring big bags full of cagoules and food or drink, and so brollies won’t be an issue.

“We just don’t want people to have a bad experience so it is best if they avoid bringing a bag and definitely don’t bring umbrellas – even if it’s raining.

“People just need to treat these games as if they are boarding an aeroplane. “I know we are expecting more families to these events than we normally see but we ask that people be sensible.

"Food and drink will be available inside and we are strongly discouraging people to bring bags because there will already be long queues and checking your bags will take longer.

“Unfortunately this is one of the problems the Olympics brings and with 35,000 people expected to the games, we have to keep people safe and security will be tight.”
