Nice To Have A Decent Trialist For Once

There was something of a rarity for Coventry City U23's this afternoon in that they were able to field a trialist who looked decent.

Over the years, many City supporters have wondered who was recommending some of the players the club has had on trial but today, Zain Westbrook made a pleasant change.

The fomer Chelsea Academy youngster who is with Brentford but is out of contract at the end of this season and has been on loan at Solihull Moors and Leyton Orient, looked comfortable playing in midfield.

Very much a Tom Bayliss sort of midfielder rather than a Michael Doyle, the 21 year old showed that he could pick out players with some slick passing and tackle and battle when required.

Westbrook was always looking to get City going forward and stood out in a City U23's team where eight of the starting eleven had first team experience.

Mark Robins watched the game and at the end of the day, it's his view that counts but for many who watched the U23's this afternoon, Westbrook deserves another game on trial at the very least.
