Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that being drawn at home to Leicester City in the opening league game of the season and then away to Birmingham City is a great start to the season.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Thorn said: "It is brilliant. "To have the first game at home to Leicester is a great start. I think the Ricoh will be nearly full since Leicester will bring a lot of fans as well.

"I am pleased to have two local derbies so early - I am looking forward to it and it will certainly get everyone talking.

"It is about what we do. I think we're a different club and we're a different side and it will be a good test for us early on. I know what we're capable of achieving and it is a great start.

"I can't wait for the season to start. I'm sure the fans feel exactly the same."

"I would have liked to have been at the Ricoh for the last match of the season but we have to travel to Southampton instead.

"Those last five games will be difficult but every game will be tough in the Championship it doesn't matter who you play."
