New plans have been submitted for a railway station at the Arena. The new business plan has been sent to MP's and is backed by rail compnay Govia.

Two trains an hour, each with a maximum of 6 coaches, are expected to stop at the Arena which is on the Coventry to Nuneaton line with more planned for league match days with money for the station already set aside as part of the Arena development.

Both Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council are also backing the plans with Tory Council Cheif Ken Taylor saying: "The business plan shows that there is an irrefutable economic case for the building of a new rail station at the Ricoh Arena.

"The new major business, entertainment, community and retail developments have already had a significant effect in turning around some of the most deprived wards. "But the total benefits cannot be maximised unless this area is served by a totally integrated transport system.

"We believe we have a very strong case and the business plan clearly demonstrates why the station is needed and why it would work."
