Coventry City's 4-0 win at Carlisle United set a new club on Saturday for the amount of goals in the opening three league matches.

The most goals in the first three league games for both City and their opponents was fifteen which occured twice.

Both of these occasions happened in the 1930's. In 1932-33, City scored nine and conceded six and in 1935-36, City scored ten and conceded five in their first three league matches of the season.

However, on Saturday, the four goals, following on from the five at Crawley Town and nine in the game against Bristol City, set the new record of eighteen goals in the first three league matches.
