Coventry City manager Steven Pressley is working hard with his young players to encourage them to sign improved contracts to keep them at the club.

Two of the young players, Jordan Willis and Jordan Clarke (pictured below) have both signed new deals and Callum Wilson, who is the leading scorer in the league, has indicated he is happy at Coventry and will very soon put pen to paper

Pressley is confident that other players who have been offered new deals will also sign.

He said, “We have put offers to several of the players and we’re still in negotiation with them. Where that ends up I hope they’ll extend their deals here because we’re very keen to do that because I have said for some time that the future of this club will definitely be built around our young players. So we are trying hard to tie them up.”

“The one thing you need as a young player is to play games. Too many young players want to make the step before they are actually ready, and many of our players have to play not just games, but consecutive games, and they’re getting their chance here and we believe in them here.

“I think we have created the right environment and they’re improving. And when it’s the right time, if they’re ready to play at the highest level and it’s not here then we wouldn’t stand in their way. But I hope it’s here because keeping the team together can enable us to,in time make the steps required.”
