Jonny Tuffey has signed for Partick Thistle. The keeper who skippered the Academy in Season in 2004/05 to league winning success has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Jags and will sign permanently on July 1st following the expiry of his CCFC contract which was not renewed by Micky Adams.

The Northern Ireland U19 international did not make a full first team appearance for the Sky Blues but played for the first team in friendlies at Worcester,Walsall and Leamington and was a mainstay for City Reserves, making his reserve league debut in a 5-0 defeat by Spurs in October 2004.

He was a sub not used in the Championship game at Leicester and was used by Adams as a warm keeper for a number of first games this season including the away trips at Luton and Wolves.

Speaking to Partick Thistle's official website, Tuffey said:" I am very pleased to be signing for Partick Thistle. I have spent the last couple of days in Glasgow with my girlfriend, and spent yesterday with Dick Campbell. I have been impressed with what I have seen of both the city and the club, and I am looking forward to my stay in Glasgow.

"I have signed a one year deal but hope my performances will convince the club to extend that deal. I know the club already have an established first choice keeper but I will be looking to push hard for a first team place.

"Although I was in the first team squad at Coventry, I was third choice keeper after they signed a keeper on loan from Spurs, but played in almost all of their reserve fixtures. I felt though that I needed a fresh challenge, and I am looking forward to my time in Glasgow with Partick Thistle."

Covsupport who were his shirt sponsors for a season and saw every game he played for the first team/reserves, wish him well.
