Murphy Makes Huddersfield Debut

Former Coventry City keeper Joe Murphy made his Huddersfield Town debut tonight in the League Cup First Round.

Murphy let two goals in the first half and a third in the second half but Huddersfield scored twice with one from Jon Stead at Chesterfield to take the game to extra time. Huddersfield scored twice in extra time to win 5-3.

The shocks tonight saw Wolves lose 3-2 at home to Northampton Town, Scunthorpe United winning 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers, Burton Albion beating Wigan Athletic 2-1, Oxford winning 2-1 at Bristol City, Portsmouth beating Peterborough United 1-0 and Shrewsbury beat Blackpool 1-0, Crawley beat Ipswich 1-0.

Credit to Dagenham & Redbridge who drew 6-6 with Brentford. They were beaten 4-2 on penalties.

Former City striker Shaun Jeffers scored for Newport in a 3-1 defeat at Reading.

Former loanee Gary Madine scored for Sheffield Wednesday in a 3-0 win over Notts County.

Former City loanee Lloyd Dyer who made six appearances in 2005, scored the winner for Watford in a 1-0 win at Stevenage.
