Murphy Abuse Will Be Character Building - Mowbray

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray feels that the flak Jacob Murphy got during the Peterborough United game from some of the City support, will stand him in good stead.

Murphy was poor by his standards in the first half but put in a far better second half after receiving a bit of flak from some of the support.

Speaking about Murphy to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “If you watch the goals back Jacob shows unbelievable talent.

“He backs his speed and talent to take the boy down the outside for the first goal where he squares it for Adam.

“And for the second one he cuts inside and wraps a brilliant ball into Armstrong’s feet on the edge of the box.

“I think people have to accept that wingers are going to be inconsistent, especially young wingers who are young boys away from home and their families, uncertain of lots of things as they grow up, and becoming a man really.

“If he does take a bit of flak and take a few boos because they take players on and lose it a few times, that’s OK. It helps them grow up and learn but what’s pleasing is he continued right to the death to back his talent to take his opponents on."
