MP Calls For Arena Station Meeting

Coventry MP Bob Ainsworth has called for a meeting with the soon to be disbanded Strategic Rail Authority about the possibility of getting a railway station at the Arena after the SRA announced that the Coventry to Nuneaton Line would be re-opened.

Mr Ainsworth told the Coventry Observer: "Anyone who looks at the present green travel plan can see the need for a station.

"I have asked the SRA to meet with myself and the council so we can examine whether there's anyway we can reach agreement on this."

The main problem with the Green Travel Plan is the dearth of available bus and coach drivers in the midlands region with only thirty buses being available through the pub and club scheme implimented by members of the Sky Blue Trust.

There are many issues concerning parking. Disabled supporters purchasing season tickets at the Arena were told that the club would simply take their number and let them know on whether they had a parking space or not, whilst local residents have complained that supporters will be parking anywhere they can find a space in order to avoid being ripped off at one of the park and walk sites.
