Mowbray Praise For New Boys

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has praised four of the players he has brought in during the January transfer window.

Baily Cargill, Jack Stephens made debuts as did Darius Henderson whilst Australian Andy Rose made his second appearance in a City first team shirt.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Mowbray said: “I saw a team dominate the ball here on Tuesday and lose 1-0 so we tried to entice them on to us and use the space behind them.

“We did that OK at times but we could have done it better and more often – Adam is sitting in there feeling disappointed because he didn’t get two or three today.

“Andy Rose brought a little bit of physicality to the team – he worked his socks off and did extremely well as I would expect.

“Baily was magnificent – he’s got a good left foot, very rarely just boots it, and he’s physically strong for such a long boy.

“We took Jack out of his more natural position and put him in the middle of a hurly-burly midfield. He did OK but he hasn’t played a lot of football this season and he needs to get up to speed – I’m sure he’ll be fine when he does that.

“Darius was brought here to win headers in the box because regardless how the game goes sometimes your centre-forward can win it for you in the 89th minute.

“It didn’t quite work out that way but we’ll take it and move on, To go away from home and not get beat is important but our ambition is to get out of this league so we need to start winning some games.”
