Mowbray: Let Someone Else Have The Job

Tony Mowbray feels it is time for someone else to have the manager's job at Coventry City.

Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “Ten games without a win, bottom line, the pride in me says that’s unacceptable.. “Let someone else have a go at it.”

“By waiting, carrying on and losing your job in a different way then that leaves a financial burden on the club, so I feel it’s right to walk away and not do that because the club needs every penny.

“There’s also my family situation, living back in Middlesbrough, and when you are not getting any rewards at the end of the day, picking up three points now and again to keep you going, to give you the drive and motivation to take you into the next week’s game and keep the place buzzing it becomes really difficult going back to an empty house down here.

“I think it’s the right thing for us all, gives someone else the chance to come in with a clean slate.

“There are Academy issues, stadium issues, training ground issues and if they can pull it all together. But as I said, I came to this club to get promotion, believing I could and yet it looks unachieveable at this moment so let someone else have a stab at achieving the ambition of the club.

“Of course I am disappointed and there is an element of me that feels it’s a job not finished but I came to help this club get out of this league and if I can’t do that then I can’t just sit there and tick along and let the season drift along.”
